Metrics and reporting
A key component to successful outsourced software development is achieving true visibility into the project’s status. In order to help clients reduce project risks and control product quality, budgets and schedules, First Line employs a set of metrics best suited for each engagement type. We track a broad set of product (e.g., product size, defect statistics, test coverage, code complexity, etc.), project (scope, budget, schedule), and team metrics (productivity, estimation accuracy, etc.). Our teams submit various detailed reports on the daily, weekly and monthly basis, per customers’ specific requirements.
In line with our commitment to transparency, we are constantly working on improving our clients’ outsourcing experience. First Line’s customers already enjoy access to all relevant project information through our comprehensive reporting. Soon, they will have the added benefit of a single view through the online project portal (currently in development). This secure portal will serve as a virtual dashboard and collaboration environment that enables accurate project tracking in real time for all project stakeholders. It will provide all constituents with a single complete view of metrics and resources (team members), as well as traceability between SDLC artifacts (Requirements, Tests, Defects, Issues, etc.). The portal will increase across-the-board visibility, facilitates planning and reporting, reduces risks, and improves budget and scope control for outsourcing engagements.
